NEW: Feature Article - Modeling Railroad Served Industries by Stan Knotts.

CDs of Steel Mill Photos by SIG member Brendan Brosnan are available at special prices - click here for details.

During the RRI SIG Meet tour of Reichard Industries Plant 2, on April 23, 2009, we saw a hot metal car about ready for delivery. On April 30, 2009, it was rolled out by a motor cart that lifted one end off the track as it was rolled out. On Friday morning, May 1, a CSX GP-38-2 pulled the car away for delivery to Arcelor Mittal as car INLX 155. When we saw the hot metal car in the plant it was right side up and we saw the words "DO NOT HUMP" upside down. With the car inverted to ship, the wording is right side up.   (photo by Marilyn Ramskugler)

The primary goals of the Railroad Industries Special Interest Group (RRISIG) are:
  • To develop an understanding of the history and operations of industries
    served by the railroads; and

  • To share such information among the membership for modeling purposes.

RRISIG publishes a quarterly newsletter, Lineside, to provide articles on industry- related topics and to keep our members informed about planned SIG events.
