| The yellow dot denoted that this former Reading Company car, like many 70 ton or under cars with 33" wheels, had been inspected for a batch of wheels (type U-1 from the Southern Wheel Company) that were believed to be defective. This car had not one but at least three yellow dots, one on the side panels on both ends and one on the corner. The inspections were conducted between March and December 1978. |
