Railfan Pictures of the Week - 8/16/2026
March 31 2026 Some of the oldest equipment on the Amtrak Northeast Corridor meets some of the newest as SEPTA Silverliner IV SPAX 415 (circa 1974) is passed by Acela Next Gen AMTK 2141 just before sunrise at North Philadelphia Station.
While North Philadelphia Station gets most of the attention with Amtrak, SEPTA, NJT and freight action, it shares the location, albeit 20 feet down, with the former Reading Company, now SEPTA's 16th Street Junction which sees just as much activity, if not more, just all SEPTA. Here a couple of SEPTA trains head to Center City from West Trenton. This first is a pull-pull with an ACS-64 at each end and a string of leased MARC coaches in the center ...
and the second a more traditional push-pull all SEPTA consist: an ACS-64 leading Bombardier coaches and cab car.
Back up on the sunny side, an inbound Trenton train rolls through North Philadelphia Station as it makes its way toward 30th Street Station.
An outbound push-pull pauses at the station before continuing toward Trenton on Track 1.
