Railfan Pictures of the Week - 6/23/2024 |
The view of the SEPTA Norristown Line from the SEPTA parking garage with a pair of Silverliner IV trains passing between CP Kalb and CP Ford. The trail that runs along the tracks here is the former Pennsylvania Railroad Schuylkill Valley Branch, whose the bridges over DeKalb Street still stand. |
But that wasn't what I was there for; I was there for a late running CSX L042, which made its appearance at the tail end of the morning rush hour, coming off the NS Morrisville Line Connecting Track onto SEPTA rails for the short trip to the Stony Creek Branch. |
Power consisted of the usual: a trio of SD40-2's, namely 8024, 8856 and 8823. |
CSX L042 passing SEPTA Norristown Transportation Center and under the Norristown High Speed Line, aka the former Philadelphia and Western, as a two car N5 train approaches its northern terminus. |
Now down at street level to catch a quick shot of NS H82 on the NS Morrisville Line Connecting Track with GP38-2 NS 5827 the sole power. |
I caught up to L042 as it was about to pass under North Wales Road. |
CSX L042 passing over Sumneytown Pike. |
Finally, L042 arriving in Lansdale. |
