Railfan Pictures of the Week - 02/12/2023 |
While I am still in hibernation mode, let's look back at warmer days. On September 28 2022, we were just a week into fall but it was still feeling like late summer. The Pennsylvania Northeastern yard in Lansdale PA was full of box cars and what looked like a quartet of CSX engines from L042 were laying over on the industrial track. |
The leader going back to Woodbourne would be SD40-2 CSX 8006, which wore the same number when built for Louisville and Nashville and later working for Seaboard. Interestingly 8006 has a blue headlight plate on its nose, making it quite distinctive. |
Behind 8006 would be SD40-2 CSX 8094, originally a Seaboard Coast Line engine that also later wore Seaboard colors. |
The third unit is the former Conrail SD40-2 CR 6413 now wearing CSX colors as CSX 8822. |
The fourth engine was an SD60 built new for CSX in 1989 but retired in 2017 and is no longer working for CSX, just wearing the same colors as PN 8701 that it wore when sold to LTEX and then to Pennsylvania Northeastern. CSX L042 would return with the three SD40-2's and 8701 would remain in the yard. |
