Railfan Pictures of the Week - 7/25/2021 |
My new local station, Fortuna on the Doylestown Branch, is famously named after a local farmer's favorite cow that met a tragic end at the hands of one of the Philadelphia and Reading's locomotives (here I thought they were called cowcatchers, not cowmurders). As part of the settlement with the farmer, the flag stop at Cowpath Road got the cow's name. BTW it is called Cowpath Road because the farmers coming from the south and east would veer off Bethlehem Pike at Five Points and lead their herds up the path to the slaughter houses. |
It just so happened that a inbound local rolled up to the station with a pair of ex-Penn Central Silverliner IV's leading .. |
But at least the trailing unit was an ex-Reading Company Silverliner IV RDG now SPAX 9019. |
