Railfan Pictures of the Week - 12/06/2020 |
Pennsylvania Northeastern Bethlehem Branch Souderton PA November 18 and 23 2020 |
PN L160, the daylight local out of Lansdale, has four separate jobs: classify the incoming and outgoing cars from and for CSX C746, work the local businesses along the Bethlehem Branch, interchange with ESPN in Telford, and maintenance of way service as needed. Today it is the last one. A backhoe has been working along the former southbound main between Center Avenue and Reliance Road in Souderton, and since it is a cut, the only place for the accumulated dirt, rocks and tree matter to go is out. Today's train consists of SD60 PN 8711, which has become the go to engine for the local lately, ... |
and NHRR 3033, a former CN side dump car. |
Heading back up to the Summit Road overpass, where the work is being done, to pick up another load. |
Five days later, the train has gotten a little bit bigger with the addition of SD40-2W PN 5342. |
The destination for the detritus is the curve just north of Reliance Road. |
The total time per load is about 40 minutes, but the run time between Summit and the curve is about 5, and they make several trips per day as needed. |
