Railfan Pictures of the Week - 9/13/2020 |
Amtrak Thirtieth Street Station Philadelphia PA September 9 1995 |
The last westbound Broadway Limited rolls into Thirtieth Street Station. |
On the nose of E60MA AMTK 602 is a banner memorializing the passing. |
The diesel power for the trip to Chicago shoves a pair of MHC's onto what will now be the head end going west. |
The banner, taken off 602, is now placed on F40PH AMTK 315, who along with 384, will take the last train west. |
Before departure, the group on the ground gets one last photo. |
Minutes later, the last westbound departs, passing the former PRR steam plant, which would join the Broadway in oblivion 14 years later. |
And in a moment ... |
it is gone. |
Having done the honors on the electric portion of the run, E60MA AMTK 602 pulls out of the station, waiting for its next job. |
The penultimate eastbound Broadway Limited pulls into Thirthieth Street with none of the fanfare of the westbound. |
And AMTK 602 trundles back to the station to hook up to another Broadway, one more time. |
