Railfan Pictures of the Week - 8/16/2020 |
SEPTA Doylestown Branch Lansdale PA August 1995 |
Not a lot of new photos lately, so dug into the archives. Twenty five years ago, American Olean Tile was getting some of its last shipments of clay ore. They would get several train loads in the summer that would last for the entire year, but the next spring the plant would close, so shots like this of a string of hoppers in Lansdale Yard would be a thing of the past. Interestingly, some of the last loads came in some of Conrail's newest hoppers (Classes H1M, H1N, H2 and H2B) as well as some of the oldest including Reading Class HTG and even a PRR Class H43B. |
These are all empty outbounds, and here you can see the distinct impression left by the ore. |
Meanwhile over at the plant, the Conrail local delivers more of the loads. |
There were two switches to the plant, both removed in 2004. |
