Railfan Pictures of the Week - 4/19/2020

SEPTA Main Line and Doylestown Branch Lansdale PA April 14 2020

With SEPTA in Lifeline Service mode, there is a lot of room on the rails and Pennsylvania Northeastern is using this to their advantage. The new "normal' has the normally nocturnal W230 out and about in the daylight. Here PN 8701 is about to lead the train over to work Lansdale Warehouse on the Doylestown Branch. It has been a while since I saw this back in 2013, although it was a little more interesting back then (click for part one and part two).
Given the signal by SEPTA, PN W230 pulls down to Dale ...
and, with PN 5342 now on point, follows Train 554 which is deadheading to Doylestown, probably just to keep the rails from getting rusty.
PN W230 passing Lansdale Station. Since the next inbound 555 departs Doylestown in about an hour, they have plenty of time.
Once at the warehouse, Tiger Lady and the cars cut away from 8701 and shove back onto the siding ...
to pick up the outbounds ...
then, after coupling the outbounds to 8701, 5342 shoves back to spot the inbounds.
To finish, it's out of the siding, couple back up and a quick trip back down to Dale and into the yard.
