Railfan Pictures of the Week - 3/8/2020 |
SEPTA Norristown Line and NS Morrisville Connecting Track Ford Street Norristown PA February 26 2020 |
A frequent response from SEPTA dispatcher when NS 14G calls for the railroad at CP Kalb is "After one north and one south", but not today. SEPTA Train 6231 did roll south from Norristown Transportation Center and the signal for northbound 3234 was green at the station ... |
but on this day 14G got the ok to proceed, here taking the switch at the southbound signal at CP Ford. |
Power was provided by D944-CW NS 9786, D9-40CW NS 9381, SD60E NS 7027 and SD40-2 NS 3337. |
And waiting at the northbound signal at CP Ford was SEPTA Train 3234. |
14G and its westward twin 17G have always been good for shooting old Conrail cars, especially coil steel cars and gondolas, but those days seem to be waning as this train had nothing with Conrail heritage except for SD40-2 NS 3337 which started life as CR 6367. |
Just as the hind end of 14G was clearing Ford Street, 3234 came north. |
Two of the cars, SPAX 879 and SPAX 717 sported new advertisments on their sides. |
They announced the renaming of University City Station to Penn Medicine Station, which seems fitting as it is adjacent to the Hospital at the Univerisity of Pennsylvania. Just this weekend, March 7 and 8, crews were seen installing new maps reflecting the change at stations on the Reading side of the system. |
