Railfan Pictures of the Week - 3/1/2020

Amtrak Northeast Corridor North Philadelphia Station Philadelphia PA February 27 2020

Just before the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce Charter Train passes through, Amtrak Regional 125 crawls through the station on the local track (Track 4) with ACS-64 AMTK 608 leading nine Amfleets (eight coaches and a lone cafe car), a decent size train for midday.
A few minutes later, the charter rolls by on Track 3 with ACS-64 AMTK 635 and AMTK 669 leading ...
only eleven Amfleets: six coaches and five cafe cars. A far cry from previous years and almost indistguishable from a regular revenue run. The decline in ridership could be attributed to the report of alcohol-related and sexual harrassment incidents on those previous trips which resulted in protests and this year's ban on hard liquor on the train.
As it passed, the westbound signal, which normally would go straight to red, instead showed lunar white.
The reason was a slightly late Acela Express 2117 running on its heels. The express would run ahead of the charter south to Washington DC.
