SEPTA Norristown Line Ford Street Grade Crossing Norristown PA January 13, 14 and 15 2020

PennDOT and SEPTA are beginning an upgrade of the Ford Street grade crossing in Norristown. Two of the tracks are used by SEPTA Norristown Line trains, the third is the NS connection between the Harrisburg and Morrisville Lines used by NS and CSX.
The upgraded crossing will include quad gates.
They have temporarily banned truck traffic over the crossing while the work is being done.
Of course not everyone got the memo, or can read apparently. One of the main problems with the crossing is that many trucks are cutting the northwest corner ...
and in the process, have taken out anything SEPTA or PennDOT puts there including signs ...
and signalling equipment. So the new gates will be installed farther back from the road and the signal boxes buried. In addition, PennDOT will be putting in guard rails in hopes of protecting the new installation. How that works out, only time will tell.
