SEPTA has some new equipment, well, at least new to them. It is leasing a set of MARC Sumitomo Sharyo cab cars to help alleviate the stress for commuters during the construction on nearby I-95. The official start date for the new cars was to coincide with the schedule change on September 29 2019 but instead they sent them up to West Trenton a few days early on Train 6374 on September 26.

Although the MARC cars were all cab cars, SEPTA is still running one of its own Bombardier cab cars, SPAX 2402, on point.

The 30 year old Sumitomo Nippon Sharyo MARC IIA cars had been retired in 2015 and were in storage until July when they were brought up to Frazer Yard, where they spent the next two months being modified and tested to work with the SEPTA equipment.

The cars are MARC 7755, 7745, 7753, 7747 and 7748.
