Pennsylvania Northeastern Railroad Lansdale Yard Lansdale PA August 7 2019 |
The Pennsylvania Northeastern Railroad has been doing some work around Lansdale recently. To start, they have restored the connection between Station Track 1 and Lansdale Yard. The switch that had been there was removed a few years ago. |
The reason for this restoration became apparent while looking north. |
PN had torn up the former Reading Company main tracks just north of the station with the intention to reconfigure the area near the crossover between the Bethlehem Running track and the Bethlehem Industrial track. During this time, PN and CSX would using the station track to access the yard and CSX would be parking its C746 power on the now-stub ended BRT south of the yard switch that was replaced in 2014. |
For the time being, the only ways in and out of the yard are via Station Track 1 and the wye from the Doylestown Branch. |
A small consolation was that they brought out their heritage PRR F41 flat to handle some of the work. |
