CSX Trenton Line CP Berry Philadelphia PA August 6 2018 |
CSX K603, an empty ethanol train heading back west, first goes east on the Trenton Line at CP Berry. |
Actually K603 is two trains. CSX often combines empty oil and ethanol trains, which explains the buffer car in the middle marking the end of what was the consist of the first loaded train. |
These combined trains make for very long consists. |
Speaking of combined trains, not far behind K603 was Q410, which used to be just another mixed manifest train. |
But a couple of months ago, Q410 ate Q140, and like a pig in a python, this train has a huge block of Tropicana cars, right in the middle, enough for an entire train all by itself. Click here to compare to several smaller Q140's at the beginning of the year. |
Not sure why the Tropicana block was in the middle as it is usually on the head end. CSX's operation manual apparently says "Why NOT?" on every page. |
