Railfan Pictures of the Week - 08/05/2018
Cape May Seashore Line Tuckahoe NJ July 29 2018
I have been stopping at Tuckahoe on the way down to the shore for years, and while I have seen various passenger moves, I had not seen freight in action ... until last weekend. I arrived just in time to see the two GATX leased units pull this covered hopper out of the siding at Tuckahoe Tower ...
and shove it south past the station on main toward Cape May. For a quick history of the engines, click here.
As luck would have it, they were coupling up to a string of LPG tank cars just around the curve and pulling them north.
They then shoved them onto the Beesley Point Secondary.
Shortly after, the true purpose became clear: to free the GP's ...
and have them run down the now vacated main. Too bad I couldn't stay longer, but it was nice to finally see some freight moves.
