CSX Trenton Line CP Berry Philadelphia PA June 15 2017 |
With the decline of the oil trains to Philadelphia, it is more likely that when you see a unit tank car train, it is probably ethanol rather than crude. CSX K452 is a loaded ethanol train, pictured here just entering Philadelphia with ES44AC-H CSX 3058 leading AC44CW CSX 300 elephant style. |
Tank car trains have a buffer car, that is an empty car they put behind the engines and before the loads, and usually it is a box car or a covered hopper, but K452 has a tank car instead. |
K452 has the green off the siding onto the main at CP Berry. |
Normally the train would have stayed on the main, avoiding this move ... |
but Q300 left its Woodbourne cut of cars on the main this day and C770 has not picked them up yet. |
No buffer car on the rear as K452 snakes its way through the interlocking. |
