Railfan Pictures of the Week - 03/26/2017 |
CSX Trenton Line Neshaminy Falls and Philadelphia Pennsylvania March 2017 |
With GE six axle locomotives seriously outnumbering EMD units on CSX, seeing EMD leaders on through freights is unusual, so it was a treat to see several this month. March 2 2017 had CSX S301 at Neshaminy Falls with CSX SD50-2 8544 (originally built as SBD SD-50 8544) and CSX C40-9W 9048. |
Five days later at the same spot, Q417 led by CSX SD40-2 8846 (CR 6482) with the plow modified for operation in third rail territory (denoted by yellow outline) and CSX SD60M 8760 (CR 5509) and CSX AC44CW 471. |
Not all were standard cabs. Due to a derailment on the River Sub in Newburgh NY, CSX was rerouting traffic. For the second time in two days, K603 was on the Trenton Line, east on March 7 and now heading west on March 8. On the point of K603 was CSX SD60I 8728 (CR 5589) with UP AC45CCTE 5530 and BNSF C44-9W 680 still in its original ATSF colors. |
And two days later, train K702 with SD40-2 8033 (SBD 8033, LN 8033) in the early morning rain at Red Lion Road |
K702 is a new ethanol train to Philadelphia and is noted for its distinct white and black tank cars. |
