Railfan Pictures of the Day - 11/03/2023

Today, November 3 2023, saw the departure from Quakertown of East Penn B23-7 EPRY 3153. The unit was sold to Minnesota Commercial Railroad a few months ago and finally started its journey to its new home. Here is a brief history of the engine by way of its paint. First up, Souderton PA on Pennsylvania Northeastern Bethlehem Branch Local PN L160 with its new MNNR number and reporting marks, but still looking like East Penn. Along for the ride to Lansdale was SW1200 ESPN 37 which was on its way to the Tyburn Railroad in Morrisville PA.

Back in November 2006, up at Quakertown PA, it had just gotten its new paint.
Four months earlier, in July 2006, it was still wearing its Conrail Quality paint, for the most part, as it had for more than 6 years.
It arrived in Lansdale PA heading for the East Penn Quakertown Branch in December 2000 wearing its orange CSX number, the same number it would wear under EPRY.
It had only been on CSX for a year and a half. Prior to that, up until just before the Conrail split, its sole purpose was to pull the geometry train, like here in September 1995 at Belmont Junction in Philadelphia PA.
