Hagerstown, Maryland, is just east of the junction of Interstate Routes 70 and 81, and can be found on a map about 25 miles (40 km) east of the narrowest part of Maryland.
You may use TripQuest to get general directions to Hagerstown from other cities, then use the local directions below.
Coming from north or south on I-81, take the exit for Baltimore National Pike (Route 40), which is Exit 6, and head east into town. The road will divide into a one-way street, Washington Avenue. Just before Washington Ave. goes under the CSX/Conrail bridge, there is a stop light, and you will turn right onto Burhans Boulevard. Burhans follows the tracks for a half-mile, then turns left underneath the tracks. As you emerge from under the tracks, the Museum is on your left - a grey and red brick building.
Coming from east or west on I-70, take the exit for Sharpsburg Pike (route 65), which is Exit 29, and head north into town. After about 1 mile, you will turn left at the third stop light onto Wilson Boulevard, which is a divided road. Follow Wilson, which turns into Burhans Blvd. as it crests over the NS track. After another mile on Burhans, the Museum will be on your right, just before the road goes under the CSX track - a grey and red brick building.
