Operation Lifesaver "Officer-on-a-train"

Downtown Riverside to Los Angeles, California

May 24, 2004

Finally reaching the Horseshoe Curve we could see the train following us getting to the curve.

Esperanza turned out to be very busy this afternoon.  We pulled up to a stop.

The train following us appeared and stopped 200 feet behind us.  An eastbound BNSF freight appeared but stopped.

Then another Metrolink flew by us going westbound.  After that, the BNSF freight got to move forward.  We also got a yellow signal and began to move too.

Below right photograph is the end of the BNSF freight which was general carloads and was short.  Below right is approaching Imperial Highway intersection with Orangethorpe where there happens to be the Milepost 38 Model Train store.

Fullerton Junction turned out to be another congested area this day.  The O.L. train pulled up to a stop and so did Amtrak 785.  The first thing throught was another BNSF train.

Below is the Fullerton Amtrak Station, formerly the Santa Fe Station, and presently the location of the TrainWeb office and the Fullerton Railway Plaza office.  After this picture, I was finished using anything electronic like my camera.  The O.L. train finally made it back to Metrolink CMF without further ado.
