Photos 1 and 2. Preferred system, subject to finding a special
order Simpson Strongtie piece. The intent would be to have the
hanger on the crosswise 2 x 6 and on the side towards my boot.
After inspecting the Simpson catalogue, page 77 THAC422, it shows there
is a large size hanger without flanges. I could not track one
down over the weekend as it is a special order item. This
scenario avoids cutting the purlin.
The 2 x 6 is about 12" to the closest edge of the bearing wall.
Photos 3 through 5. Other way to bind my joists to use
Simpson HUC412 (potentially usefull with concealed flange)
Would it be better to shorten the joist and bring the hanger towards
where the above photo was taken to catch more of the purlin higher on
the hanger?
