After
milepost 113, the Grand Canyon Limited passes an old abandoned
facility of some type.
The cactus was flourishing in this area of the desert.
I had stationed myself in the
Zimmerman car waiting for that painted skull on a rock that I had seen
a few days earlier in the twilight.
Around milepost 116, a local dirt road crossed the track and lo and
behold, the paparazzi magically reappeared.
I had spotted a house which appeared to be built into the rock hillside.
We passed one lone photographer sitting on a rock having accomplished
his mission to view the Grand Canyon Limited. Inside the Amtrak
Cafe car was nerve central for the Central Coast Chapter who were
operating this trip.
Up ahead was our Congressional group waiting for us at the next service
stop.
Our stop at Congress was less time consuming than our visit a few days
earlier. Soon we were on our way to the end of running on the
BNSF Peavine
and back onto the Arizona & California Railroad.
