I happened to be towards the center of
the train in the Silver Splendor when we ground to a halt in an "S"
curve which happened to be the Matthie junction at Wickenburg.
This stop for crew change took much longer than anticipated somewhere
around an hour.
Finally we were moving again. Question was, moving for how
long. We were about 13 miles shy of Congress. I've been do
D.C. before, but never been to Congress.
Once we were going, I collected another 30 second video which yielded
some nice sounds. Leaving
Matthie video. At least one voice comments
on our speed.
We had a motorcyclist come up from behind and pass us. Notice the
camera on top of his helmet.
We were pulled onto the passing track.
It was during this visit to the rear of the train that I encountered
Steve Donaldson, an old acquaintenance from Orange County. He has
since moved along to Northern Calfiornia while I moved to 35 feet
outside the Orange curtain. Unfortunately, I have to report into
OC most work days.
And then came along BNSF 6610, 4982 and 1055 hauling an intermodal
train to Phoenix.
