Our fearless leader, Chris Skow of Trains Unlimited, Tours was at
Truckee to hand off our room keys for John Ascuaga's Nugget. We
would see Chris again the next day for Portola Railroad Days.
At Truckee, some railroad equipment is stored behind chain link
fence. My goal was to get a shot of the center cab
switcher which is slightly visible behind the bush. To the
left of the bush is a rotary snowplow and a passenger coach.
Once we were on the move again, we passed a parked ballast train.
We met the very late California Zephyr number 5.
The route follows the Truckee River, which is accessible from the
highway for photography, rafting and fishing. The fly fisherman
was probably
fishing for trout.
Near west Boca.
The track is crossed by Interstate 80 twice through here.
Below, somewhere in the East Boca area.
Imagine no Amtrak cars.
