Below is a list of depots located on the former Eastern & Anglia Region in alphabetical order. The list is not complete and will be added to in due course.

Bounds Green

Location: On the east side of the ECML north of Alexandria Palace where the Hertford line branches off.

Allocation: 08, 89, 91

Usual Classes: 08, 43, 89, 91

Vantage Points: The depot can be seen from trains on the ECML and the Hertford line.

Doncaster TMD

Location: South of Doncaster station on the east side of the Retford / Gainsborough line.

Allocation: 08

Usual Classes: 08, 37, 47, 56, 58, 66

Vantage Points: From the A638 heading into Doncaster turn left at the F1 Hotel. The road is well signed. Follow this road along and enter the depot car park. From the car park it is possible to view several stabled locomotives. NOTE: At this point you are on private railway property.

Doncaster Station Yard

Location: Adjacent to the west side of the station between RFS Doncaster.

Allocation: N/A

Usual Classes: 47, DMU, LHCS

Vantage Points: The yard can be viewed from the furthest west platform on Doncaster station

Healey Mills

Location: The depot and yard is situated approximately half way between Wakefield Westgate and Mirfield station.

Allocation: N/A

Usual Classes: 08, 31, 37, 47, 66

Vantage Points: From the J39 on the M1 take the A636 towards Denby Dale. After about 2 miles turn right along the unclassified road towards Netherton. Turn right at the end of this road into the B6117. Turn right into the A642 and after crossing the cannel turn right immediately into Bridge Road. Take a left into Storrs Hill Road and follow this road passing over a railway bridge. On the left a drive leads to the depot. Park in the car-park and cross onto the public footpath which runs along side the depot. Binoculars are needed.

Ipswich Station Stabling Point

Location: Immediately to the west of Ipswich station.

Allocation: N/A

Usual Classes: 08, 37, 47, 57, 58, 66

Knottingley TMD

Location: The depot is east of Knottingley station in the triangle of the Knottingley, Askern and Whitley Bridge lines.

Allocation: 08, 09

Usual Classes: 08, 09, 56, 58, 59

Vantage Points: Leave the M62 at Junction 33 and take the A1 northbound. At the next junction join the A645 towards Goole / Knottingley. Turn right at the traffic lights in Knottingley into Headlands Lane. Past the railway station and turn first left into Spawd Bone Lane. Just after the junction is some waste ground on the left. From here using binoculars you can see the depot yard.

Further along the road is the depot entrance. If you enter into the access road and turn left along a dirt track it is possible to walk behind the building to see more of the depot yard. NOTE: At this point you are on private railway property.

Neville Hill TRSMD

Location: The depot is on the north side of the Leeds to Cross Gates Line east of Leeds Central station.

Allocation: 08, 43, 142, 144, 150, 153, 156, 158, 308, 321, LHCS

Usual Classes: 08, 43, 91, 142, 144, 150, 153, 156, 158, 308, 321, LHCS

Vantage Points: 1) The depot can be partially viewed from passing passenger trains.

2) On the A64 heading into Leeds City Centre pass Asda and the Little Chef. Turn left into Osmondthorpe Lane opposite to "The Shaftbury" pub. Turn right into Richardson Road just before the depot entrance. Along this road is a park. The parks runs parallel to the depot, several hills in the park also other units to be seen. Binoculars are needed.

Norwich Crown Point

Location: The depot is to the south of Norwich station, situated between the lines to Ipswich and Great Yarmouth / Sheringham.

Allocation: 08, 50, 86, DMU, LHCS

Vantage Points: The depot can best be viewed from trains heading to / from Great Yarmouth and Sheringham.

Norwich Station Sidings

Location: Sidings are located within the confines of Norwich station where locomotives and DMU's often stable between duties.

Allocation: N/A

Usual Classes: 08, 47, 86, DMU

Vantage Points: The sidings can be viewed from the platforms at Norwich.

Visit Permits: N/A

 

Peterborough LIP

Location: To the north of Peterborough station on the east side of the ECML.

Allocation: N/A

Usual Classes: 08, 31, 37, 56, 58, 66

Vantage Points: 1) Turn left out of Peterborough station and follow the road around to the right. At the end of the road turn left then first left. This road goes to the left and crosses the ECML to the north of Peterborough station. The depot can be viewed from this road.

2) The depot is partially visible from Peterborough station and is visible from trains traveling north of Peterborough.

Sheffield Shrewsbury Road

Location: The depot is to the south of Sheffield station on the west side of the line from Dore and Chesterfield.

Allocation: N/A

Usual Classes: 142, 153, 156, 158

Vantage Points: The depot can be partially viewed from the southern platform ends of Sheffield station and from trains traveling to / from Dore and Chesterfield.

Visit Permits: N/A

 

Thornaby TMD

Location: The depot is on the north side of the line from Thornaby to Hartlepool.

Allocation: 08, 09

Usual Classes: 08, 09, 37, 47, 56, 60, 66

Vantage Points: As well as viewing from the main Middlesbrough Road that passes the depot entrance, there is now a new road bridge which passes over the line at the east end of the depot. It is possible to take the road on the next left and walk on top of the new "screening" earth bank to view the depot shed / yards from the far (north) side with binoculars.

Worksop Yard

Location: Situated to the west of Worksop station to the south of the Worksop to Sheffield line.

Allocation: N/A

Usual Classes: 08, 58, 60

Vantage Points: From the station, turn right across car park and follow road from former freight depot to main road. Cross road by railway bridge. Private road to EWS Worksop WRD runs to the left of bridge. Go under bridge turn left and follow road to Tesco's.

Loco stabling sidings can be viewed from the recycling area. There are often 2 to 4 locos present. On Sundays up to 6 locos can be found elsewhere stabled with their trains. Walk past the Tesco buildings to view the other end of the sidings other locos and the repair shed. The two shunters can usually be found here. It is often difficult to get numbers because of the large number of wagons.
