The largest town on my layout is Conneaut, Ohio. This is a real town that was served by the Nickel Plate Road. There is the main yard with industry and then the town on another section. Only had so much room to build the town but a lot of fun building to create. Still have some more structures to build yet as soon as I can figure out where to put them.
Conneaut Shell Service and interior view

The backdrop I painted myself. The restaurant below is called Zelda's Zip Inn. It is completely scratch built including the interior.
My layout is not prototypically correct in many ways because of space contrants and the way I build it in over the years. The ole add some here and add some there method! (LOL). Anyway, Ashtabula in reality is a harbor town known for the coal docks. Because I had to build the town on the upper section it is not laid out like the real town. In fact none of my towns are prototypically correct in physical view, just the names. Please excuse my use of modeling license. My main goal is to enjoy the fun of operating trains and have some switching capabilities so this is how it is built. As in any hobby you can go a detail as you like and either fictional or exact prototype as possible. I love to add detail to structures and small items and not really concerned with it is prototypical correct. I believe this hobby should be about having fun so do what you like to do and not worry about what someone else is doing! I will post more photos as I have time. Thanks for stopping by.
