September 8, 2009

Our last meeting was in May and was held at Red Top Hotdogs in Hamburg. Bud Rindfleisch, Ray Abbott, Don Webster, Frank Schenk, Lew Cabello, and Gregg Mummert attended. Everyone enjoyed burgers, dogs, fries, and shakes along the lake on a windy but sunny day. Some members ordered coffee to combat the slight chill. Unfortunately, there was no activity on the lake since it was so choppy. We went to Lake Road to train-watch and observed a couple eastbound CSX and NS trains.

Several things we discussed at the meeting – the recent S Spring Spree in Cleveland and the upcoming NASG convention in St. Louis. For those that attended the convention, hopefully you ran into Charley Taylor (S Gaugian “Club Car” columnist) and introduced yourself as a WNYSSA member.

The Arcade and Attica decals arrived from Modern Rail Decals and the club’s 44 tonner shell was dropped off at the painter. It will hopefully be ready soon and on the club’s layouts this Fall. Gregg is working on mounting couplers to the chassis in the meantime.

An S scale Bus station was recently announced and will be available from Twin Whistle http://www.twinwhistle.com/displayroom1/ in October. It is currently available from an “S” dealer in CA with Greyhound signage. An older ‘60’s (?) style bus may also be produced in the future. Modern coaches are currently available from Royal Coach ( www.royalcoachbuses.com) in PA.

The NASG modular brick factory kit is now available to members. This kit will also be available from Banta Model Works http://www.bantamodelworks.com/ in the future.

We renewed our ’09 NASG Booster ad which will appear in the upcoming NASG directory.

Are there any reports from the ’09 convention in St. Louis?

Dave LaGraves asked about having a Holiday dinner this year. Is anyone available to coordinate this event with Dave? We need to locate a reasonably priced restaurant that can accommodate 15-20(?) people on a Sunday afternoon in December. Contact Dave if you can help.

The next meeting will be at Paul Wachowicz’ home on TUESDAY, September 22, at 6 PM.

Please call Paul to let him know you will be attending. We plan to discuss the Fall show schedule and if any work sessions will be required.

Lew will tentatively host a meeting in November and we are waiting for the date. Is anyone available to host a meeting in October or on a future date? We always need volunteers and ideas.
