WESTERN NEW YORK S SCALE ASSOCIATIONhttp://trainweb.org/WNYSSA/
November 25, 2008

The November meeting was held at The
Pegasus Restaurant.
Dave LaGraves, Don Webster, Tom Koziol, Torby Barker, Mike and Kathy
Barren, and Gregg Mummert attended.
Don brought pictures from the NASG convention in Lowell, MA that
he circulated. He also brought wiring
diagrams for the turnouts on his module.
Dan Malkiewicz sent some pictures of the club’s layout at the recent
TTOS show.
Several members
attended the TCA meet in York, PA in October.
There seemed to be lots of Flyer
available at the show. There was an HO
modular layout set up in one of the halls and an O (2-rail) scale layout set up
in another. ”L” didn’t have any new
Flyer on display but they did add a loop of Flyer track to their layout with a
Baldwin freight running. “L” reported that
the Big Boy will arrive next summer.
There were plenty of “hot” deals on select roadnames of “L” AF Mikados,
Pacifics, and Northerns. Pennsylvania
Heritage Models (email: tom@paheritagemodels.com) is finally ready to release its S scale trolley. They also said they will be re-issuing the
44-tonner that was out a few years ago.
Some members have already suggesting getting one for the club and having
it painted and lettered in Arcade and Attica RR’s scheme (decals can be made in
S by Modern Rails).

We have continued to have work sessions on the 4’x8’ layout over
the past several weeks. Scenery is being
added to the backdrop and the wiring is in progress and close to being
complete. We are looking for a
warehouse scene for one side of the backdrop.
Our next work session is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3rd,
at 6 PM at Paul Wachowicz’ home.
We set up our modules at the TTOS show at the Leonard Post in
October and the GSME show in Batavia in November. The Rochester Area S Gaugers joined us again in Batavia. Thanks to everyone that assisted with these
displays. We received donations to our
treasury from both clubs. And, we
signed up new member Bruce Chaffin from North East, PA, at the recent TTOS
show. Welcome to the club, Bruce!
There are several train exhibits currently at the Eastman House
in Rochester (900 East Ave) (www.eastmanhouse.org/trains)....
- “Steam and Steel: The
Photographs of O. Winston Link” until January 25th
- “Tracks: The Railroad
in Photographs from the George Eastman House Collection” until January 25th
- “Passing Time: Recent
Video by Andrew Cross” until February 8th
Also, there is a new TV show on the History Channel called
“Extreme Trains” on Tuesday nights at 10PM.
Everything from Acela to coal trains across the Alleghany Mountains!
At the meeting, we discussed the Christmas Party and it was
suggested to have it in January since everyone’s schedules are busy this time
of year. Locations suggested were The
Red Mill Inn, Elma Towne Grille, Springbrook Hotel, Pegasus Restaurant… Can someone check availability (preferably around
4PM on a Sunday, except the 24th) and prices at these (or other)
locations? We need a couple volunteers
to work with Dave LaGraves (716/684-8950) to put this event together and make
it happen.
Is anyone interested in custom decals for an Arcade and Attica
44-Tonner (from Pa Heritage Models) and/or Somerset Rail hoppers? Gregg will be placing an order for these decals
with Modern Rails at some point in the future.
Let him know if you want any of these sets.
Next time you see him, congratulate the NEW “PRESIDENT,” TOM
KOZIOL.
