The Batavia show went OK. Not great but OK. We had some problems with the wiring on the club accessory modules and never did get the barrel loader working. We were able to load and unload logs and the sawmill operated. We will need to have a work session dedicated to the wiring on these two modules. Also, the new highway flashers only worked for one track. The problem was a miswired connector on one of the infrared detectors found after the show.
The yard modules never got set up because we devoted so much time and effort to the accessory modules. Most people probably never noticed.
The small action layout got a good workout as usual. After Chuck's 303 took a header to the floor, Mike Shea's SW9 filled in and negotiated the pikemaster 15" radius amazingly well. The 303 is already repaired.
There seemed to be a good crowd at the show. Content over the years has seemed to become more and more HO.
Duane couldn't make the show becase of his wedding (congratulations Duane!) and lent his truck to George who carried most of the stuff from Mike Shea's house.
We are exploring the recruitment of a couple of new members, Mark Klemens and Jeff Faust.
The next get together is on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 2PM at Dick Senges, Victor, NY. We will view his HO layout and particularly examine his scenery techniques, which may come in handy on the 2 foot modules. We are counting on Ted Larson to give us directions.
Speaking of the 2 footers, Duane, Ted and Chuck need to get in gear on these. There is no reason we couldn't have them in time for the next show, which is in early March at Fingerlakes.
Mike Holland's 30B is kaput so we bought a pair of 75 watt flyer transformers as a relacement (not in wattage but in cabs). At Batavia George brought his 30B so wiring was a drop in. Mike Holland used one of the new 75 watters to power the switching tracks on his modules.
Because of a length limitation in the area we used we had Rick's engine house module at right angles to the long dimension of the layout. This placed the usually troublesome mainling switch in the center of the two end modules. The switch repairs that Ted and Chuck made at the last meeting apparently worked. The scale train was able to run all day entering the switch from the point end. That was a first.
Next shows: Early March TTCS at Fingerlakes and early April at Batavia.
