Often refered to as the "Circus Scheme" WM's
red, white and black paint scheme first appeared on it's third batch of
SD-40s delivered in June 1969.
Eventually Western Maryland repainted all its GP-7s, GP-35s, SD-35s, several GP-9s, F-7s and one FA-2 (the only Alco to wear this scheme) in addition to the GP-40s which were also delivered new in this scheme. |
