When I saw this rake, I was surprised. 2xx series numbers were assigned to 1960
stock converted Jessop rakes with English Electric Traction gear made for ER but
were instead transferred to WR and converted for 1500 V DC. They were known as
Converted Jessop and ran smoothly. During peak hours, I have seen one such rake
reaching 115 km/hr at Malad during ADH - BVI fast run. No other series of EMUs
could break this record.
Well! This is CR EMU being readied for use on
WR.
A CR motor-coach plying on WR shows "YSY" as well as "943C".
I had never seen such combination before. But I certainly am out of touch with
current afairs.
Under carriage of the motor-coach shown on previous page. One of the bogie was removed for
replacement of traction motors that you have seen earlier. The male coupler
mates with female coupler on bogie. Right now this end of the coach is resting
on support stools.
Supports and coach
The coach is firmly raised by OH crane and supports are removed to install
bogie.
The bogie is being pulled by the steel rope seen on floor.
Mating the bogie and coach.
