Inspection Car.jpg (29281 bytes)  Inspection car in the rake that we were banking.

We are ready to go. The master controller is already in notch 3 or 4, a point to balance and steady the rake before starting. There are two brake controllers on the left side. The one in front moves in horizontal plane and applies independent loco brakes. The one at rear moves in vertical plane and applies train brakes.

The sitting arrangement in WCG2 is more comfortable than WCAM2/3 locos.

Panel.jpg (51347 bytes)  A view of ammeter, voltmeter showing balancing environment. Walkie-talkie is resting near the meters.

Panoramic View.jpg (49815 bytes)  As we started from Karjat, I tried to capture the view of our rake from banker. Not the best picture though, it gives a fair idea.

Lead Banker Loco.jpg (44806 bytes)  Leading banker as seen from the cab of rear banker. The driving crew always occupies the rear banker. CR has removed 15 ton caboose in ghat section on freight trains. The guard now occupies the cab in leading banker.

Panoramic View 2.jpg (44487 bytes)  Another panoramic view before Khandala.

OHE 1.jpg (67096 bytes)  OHE 2.jpg (48733 bytes)  OHE car at Lonavala.

Guage 1.jpg (57015 bytes)  Guage 2.jpg (57405 bytes)  Two pictures of brake gauges from the same cab while banking two different rakes. The picture on the left was taken while banking the rake with two flat cars; the picture at right was taken while banking a passenger train. Brakes are applied in both cases. The difference is, picture at left covers vacuum braked rake; the one on right is air braked rake.

Repeater signal.jpg (65910 bytes)  Repeater signal at Lonavala. Due to curve, guard cannot see the starter.
