CSXT FLORIDA FUNNEL COAL TO FLORIDA There are close to 100 coal trains on the Bullsheet
with Florida destinations. Almost all are "as needed". From experience
on the field, I do not think there are more than a dozen coal trains going
to Florida every day. The routes also vary. Some come down Etowah-Waycross
and some come down the Clinchfield-Savannah line. About half of them go
through Jacksonville and the other half goes through Baldwin. The destinations
are Red Level, Tampa, Brooksville, Indiantown, Hague, Park, Broco, Power
Park, Busch, Taft, Bostwick and Boykin (P&A subdivision).
3 rd weekend of June 1999; northbound; CSXT 723, CSXT 716, SJRX
hoppers. A rare appearance of a duo of SD70MAC at Folkston. This was more common
than when these engines were brand new as they were kept around Grafton,
WV.
3rd Weekend of June 1999; Northbound; NS 8415 Conrail; UMP hoppers. A few minutes later, another empty is lead by a former Conrail engine
already with a number patch.
February 2001; N104; CSXT 774, CSXT 29. 774, another SD70MAC, was delivered after the take-over of Conrail.
