The Wire Train
By Brian Palmer

The New Jersey Transit's Wire Train. 2006.

The last run between Carter Bell and the interchange was not by the RV itself but some individuals that took the NJT wire train for a joy ride down the RV. For several months in the early 1980's the wire train was stored on the out of service RV with end of the train just short of the RV Broad Street trestle. It was a regular sight while driving up or down Broad Street. One day the wire train was gone only to appear the next day covered with broken limbs from trees. Story has is that some vandals released the brakes and took the train for a joyride that ended at the derail behind Briant Park. Transit reportedly retrieved the train with a light engine sent down from Summit.
