Falk Coal Co. was one of the last retail coal dealers in
operation on the RV, receiving shipments of coal up until the
mid-1970's. Falk was located on the southerly side of the Rahway
Valley Line on Vauxhall Road, where the company had four large
yellow silos for storing coal. A spur came off the RV
and ran along side the silos to where the coal dump
was for the hopper cars that would come in via
the RV. In later years Kingston Coal Co., located on Stanley Terrace, moved in
with Falk at their location as the construction of I-78 severed their connection
to the RV. |
