On its way to connect with the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad the Rahway Valley Railroad crossed over Morris Avenue in Summit. This bridge was constructed during the RVRR's extension to Summit that occurred between 1904 and 1906. Compared to the other three bridges that the RVRR had in Summit, the Morris Avenue bridge had the lowest clearance. Due to the problems with this low bridge it was removed not long after the RVRR was closed in 1992. Today the bridge abutments still remain.

This aerial shows the exact location (arrow) of the former Morris Avenue bridge. The red line denotes the RVRR mainline. This is all located in the shadow of the expansive Overlook Hospital (left). Google Maps.
