Springfield Station | |||||||||||||||||||||||
The only remaining building of the Rahway Valley Railroad is the Springfield Station. Constructed in 1905/6 while the railroad was being extended to Summit, the station was the only railroad passenger depot ever constructed in Springfield, NJ. Serving as a passenger station until just after World War I, the station then became an office for a Freight Agent who was posted here. After the railroad closed in 1992 the station eventually went through a sleu of owners before finally becoming Hecht Family Chiropractic, which it houses today.
