Photo of the Month - September, 2003

The influx of ex-Burlington Northern power has had a tremendous impact on POTB operations, as illustrated by this photo of POTB 6124, 6114 and 6116 towing three ballast cars and a long freight train into Garibaldi, OR in May, 2003. The 6124 had just recently entered service, while the 6116 was being used as power for a regular ballast train, which was being moved to Batterson by the coast switch. For the most part, a solid set of BN green power has been used on the coast for about five months, while at least one ex-BN unit has been common on the hill freight since February.
