In case you have
missed the updates, the Port of Tillamook Bay recently bolstered its
motive power fleet with the purchase of 10 SD-9's from Burlington Northern-Santa
Fe. The purchase was made in December, and the units started trickling
in in mid-February. The last one, BN 6156, arrived in mid-April. None
of the units were operational when they arrived, but some were in far
better shape than others as the motive power-heavy BNSF was sidelining
the older units anytime they suffered a failure of any kind - minor
or major. Anyhow, I thought that it would be a perfect introduction
to the POTB's splash of green if I included them in a photo of the month.
It's also the perfect segue to the photo
essay feature that I am working on on the movement and arrival of
the units on Port property. Here we see the 6114 and 6139 backing out
towards the industrial park in Tillamook. You can learn more about the
