Photo of the Month - February, 2003
Looking like it's leading its way into town, former Port of Tillamook Bay number 2, a 45 ton Whitcomb switcher, leaves Tillamook for good behind the caboose of Southern Pacific's Tillamook Hauler. After nearly 25 years in the service of the Port and its predicessors, the 2 was sold to the Oregon-Washington Plywood co. mill in Garibaldi, where it would serve for another seven years before moving on to the railcar repair facility where it still serves today. The train is coming out of what is now called the house track, with the depot almost directly to the left of the photographer. Third St. is visible in the background. Photo from the POTB archive.
