It's early spring,
1995, but the Southern Pacific lives again — almost. A white
patch on the nose and another on the sides do little to mask the obvious
SP heritage of newly delivered POTB 4432 as the conductor steps off
for a bit of switching on a typically rain-soaked afternoon at Batterson.
The 4432 was leased and later purchased after the POTB assumed operation
of the SP's Tillamook branch all the way to Hillsboro. Also included
in the purchase were SD-9 4405 and GP-9 3771, the two units trailing
the 4432 in this photo, as well as SD-9 4406. Photo by Geoff Barnes.
