Progress Along the Right-of-Way

Computer Problems Sideline Pocahontas Division

I must apologize for not keeping visitors informed about some problems I have had trying to access my pages at Trainweb.  I couldn't open my pages to even do so! Originally my site was constructed on my computer at school and when I loaded the site at Trainweb, well no problem. School ended and I had to export the site to my home system. Well, that's when the trouble started. Pages arrived devoid of images, text was all messed up and basically I had to rebuild my site from scratch. Once finished, I attempted to upload the pages and nothing happened. I got error messages, then things were sent to Trainweb but refreshing the page didn't make the changes. Folks at Trainweb and I have been trying to rectify this problem for several months now. It seems the problem lies with Microsoft's Frontpage 98, it gets jammed up when the host system for the site is changed. The folks at Microsoft cofirmed this problem for me. What you will now be seeing is the rebuilt version of my website.

Things have been pretty quiet on the Pokey over the last few months anyway. Our spring and summer arrived early in Montreal, so work on the house has taken much of my time. I did squeeze in some bench-work construction. I have completed the part which will contain the Atomic Fuel loader on the Dry Fork Branch. This section will be elevated above my workbench, supported by brackets extending out of the wall. Underneath, a narrow plank will carry the mainlines over my workbench towards the staging yard which will be located about ten feet further along the wall.

Only a small portion of Auville yard remains to be ballasted. I am quite pleased with the results here as the N-Trak mainlines plus the two long sidings I installed give me five major yard tracks, three of which are over ten feet long! There is also a bypass track to avoid the main yard, tracks for the engine service area and three spurs; one leading to some industry and the others serving small coal loaders.

A great part of the scenery has been roughed in and work continues on completing the town of Iaeger. I want to complete this part of the layout,  as it is the first thing you will see as one enters the layout room. Iaeger will become the "showcase" of the layout. Work also continues on benchwork for the other parts of the layout. Now that extra space has been found for the staging yard, the mainline will be extended and hug the wall at the bottom of the basement stairs. The tracks have to loop around a drain pipe and duck behind a cabinet, but I look forward to finding solutions to these particular problems.

Sorry, no layout photos yet. Soon, real soon, I promise! Please keep coming back to check on my progress.
