Pennsylvania Northeastern Railroad Bethlehem Branch Lansdale PA August 14 2011 |
Pennsylvania Northeastern Railroad's L160 local out of Lansdale servicing the newly acquired Bethlehem Branch ran on the day after the handover from CSX with ex-CP SD40-2 5577, pausing at the water tower about to go out on the branch for the first time. |
A quick run to the lease track ... |
and back, approaching Eighth Street ... |
and then onto the siding at Crystal about to work its first customer ... |
but wait, it would appear that the six axles trucks might put a bit too much stress on the tight curve at Crystal, so they went back to the yard and on their return had added a few idler cars to facilitate access. The L160 job starts working in the late afternoon Sundays through Thursdays, and much of it is done under the cover of darkness, so getting daylight shots later in the year may be challenging. Most of the switching is being done with the SD40-2 with the C39-8's covering the Lansdale to Warminster runs as well as seeing service on the Bethlehem Branch. |
