Delaware Avenue Philadelphia, Pennsylvania |
In the 1990's, probably the most colorful railroad in Philadelphia was Canadian Pacific. CP units could be found in yellow, white, black, gray and of course red (Multimark, CPRail, Dual Flags and Golden Beaver), along with Soo units in white and red, St. Lawrence and Hudson in red and gray, Delaware and Hudson Lightning Stripe, and a variety of leased units that frequented the yard in South Philly. On a summer day in 1995, the local switcher, CP 5423, sits coupled to a CP caboose just north of the Walt Whitman Bridge, while just south of the bridge CP 5421, 5428, 1830 and 5677 wait to make their return trip to the great white north. |
