* - It should be noted that the Union Station Products are Craftsman-level kits.  Some clean-up of parts and assembly is required, and care must be exercised when assembling these sides because of the delicate parts.

Note 1:  The following cars used on the City of Los Angeles and City of San Francisco trains carried the following names.

  • The following names were assigned to cars with a cafe - lounge configuration:
    Baldy Mountain Nob Hill Russian Hill (to Hoover Dam, 1959)

  • The following names were assigned to coaches having 48-seats:

    Note 2:  Both the City of Los Angeles and the City of San Francisco trains carried articulatedcars.  These sets varied from train to train and even within the individual trains.  The following are a list of some of the articulated car sets, their configurations, the recommended sides for building these cars and the train they ran on:

  • The following are the names of cars in the Western:

    Note 4: Cars in this series were named Nob Hill and Russian HillRussian Hill was renamed Hoover Dam in 1951 because of McCarthyism.

    Note 5:  There is not, at this time, a core kit for Budd cars, but these cars can be used on either a Concor or Kato Budd car shell to create a reasonably accurate model of these cars.

    Note 6:  Both sides are for modeling the 9000-series cars.  Set 173-536 is intended for modeling these cars as they were built while set 173-526 is for the same cars after they were rebuilt for mid-train service.  It should be noted that at this time there is not a suitable core kit or starting point for modeling these cars and that they are only mentioned as a reference.

    Note 7:  This side kit is useful for creating an U.P. smooth sided Ocean-series car, though the skirting should be removed.
