* - It should be noted that the Union Station Products are Craftsman-level kits.  Some clean-up of parts and assembly is required, and care must be exercised when assembling these sides because of the delicate parts.

Note 1:  Sleeper cars of the B&O were named as follows:
  • Individual names for cars having 10 Rmt - 6 DBR:
    Alleghany Guyandotte Scheylkill Tuscarawas
    Auglaise Kokosing Shenandoah Tygart
    Catochin Muscatatuck Sheango Youghiogheny
    Cuyahoga Opequon

  • Individual names for cars having 14 Rmt - 4 DBR:
    Cacapon Mononcacy Patuxent Sangamon
    Mahoning Muskingum Paw Paw Scioto

    Dana Metcalf Nappanee Wawasee

Cascade Boulder Cascade Gully Cascade Music

  • Individual names for cars having 2 DBR - 1 Comp - 1 DR - buffet lounge:
Genesee River Maumee River Wabash River

Note 2:  The M&R sides could be of use for modeling a smooth sided 10-6 sleeper (I do not know if any retained the corrugation) while the NKP Car sides would be useful in modeling a corrugated car. Either version could be modeled with the U.S.P. sides kit.

Note 3:  The first number is for car sides with the center skirting, the second number is for car sides without skirting.

Note 4:  While both Kato and Concor offer models of the Budd Slumbercoach the Kato model represents a Burlington Route car with full length skirting, while the Concor model represents a car with the cut-outs in the skirting for the trucks, which would be appropriate for modeling a B&O cars.

Note 5:  At the present time there is not an appropriate core kit for this type of car.  These sides are mentioned only as a matter of record.

Note 6:  The Laser Horizon and Union Station Products sides both require corrugation being added below the window section for the models to be appropriate.  For the L.H. sides, U.S.P. P.S. corrugation or M.&R. Texas Special corrugation for EMD E7As would be needed for the sides to be completely accurate.  Unique to a few corrugated cars on the B&O, these cars had the Cor-ten steel portions of the sides painted to match smooth sided cars, with a gray window section, blue letterboard and lower side area (non-corrugated) and yellow striping.
