While not a true operater of Budd RDCs a prototype two car stainless steel Budd self-powered train, the Prospector was a forerunner to the RDC design, and while unsuccessful, a number of the pioneering innovations on this train later lead to the Budd RDC line, thus their inclusion under the Budd RDC listings.
D&RGW Prospector - Budd corrugated doodlebug trainset. An early attempt by Mr. Budd to develop self-powered passenger cars, the train was trouble proned and was soon retired and returned to Budd for scrapping. (OTTO PERRY COLLECTION)
