DOODLEBUG INDEX - ALRON CANTON &: CANTON to CHERRY CREEK BOOM & LUMBER
UPDATED WITH 115 NEW LINKS.
In pursuit of my own interests in rail motor
cars (doodlebugs) I have compiled this list of links for photos of doodlebugs that I have
found to be of internet. In addition to the photo links listed below I would like to invite you to visit a few off-site links that deal with doodlebugs in a very special way...
Edwards Railcar is the decendent of the original company and is working to not only rebuild existing cars but also said to be producing new ones.
Gas-Electric Operator's
Manual provides some interesting insights into the operation and mechanics of the old gas electric cars. This page, posted by George Elwood to his Fallen Flags site, is greatly of interest overall.
Colorado Railcar has been actively involved in developing "New Age" motor cars (called DMU, short for Diesel Multiple Unit) based on some of the same technology originally used in Budd RDCs. Currently there are two cars in use on Florida Tri-rail (one single-level DMU, the prototype, and four bi-level DMU). To learn more about this builder, visit Jody Moore's Ultradome website by clicking the passenger car drawing below:
I cannot promise you that all links will remain working since I have no control over this. I will say, though, that if a link isn't working I will see about it (and if possible, report it to the owner of the site) and if necessary, remove it from future updates (regretably there have been a few significant sites lost recently so some photo links have been removed). To email me about a "broken" link just CLICK HERE.
